What is Stampin' Up! & Paper Pumpkin

What is Stampin' Up!?

Quality & Coordination.....

Stampin' Up! designs and manufactures an exclusive line of decorative rubber  and photopolymer stamp sets and paper-crafting products for greeting cards, gift making, craft projects, scrapbooking and home décor.  These products are showcased by enthusiastic demonstrators at in-home parties and stamping events like workshops or classes.

Stampin' Up! is a 29-year old direct-sales company based in Utah, Western United States, founded in 1988.  Stampin' Up! products are not sold in stores, but can be purchased through a network of independent contractors called Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  Currently, more than 40,000 Demonstrators throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand teach the art of stamping and share their enthusiasm for stamping, scrapbooking, and card making.  Stampin' Up! has been in New Zealand since 2007.

Every year, Stampin' Up! publishes its Annual Catalog, the pages of which introduce new stamp sets and accessories. These accessories - including papers, stamp pads, and markers - are offered in 40 core colors, grouped into color collections, which takes the guess work out of making beautiful cards and scrapbook pages and offers convenience and coordination to customers and demonstrators.  You'll also find coordinating embellishments, such as ribbons, brads and other hardware accessories to make paper crafting simpler, quicker, and more exciting.

But products aren't the only thing you'll find in the over 180 pages that make up this fabulous resource. You'll also find fantastic samples that you can use to create your own projects or inspire new ideas. The Annual Catalogue is available from any Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and is also online.

Ink Pads -

The Firm Foam pads are really juicy and you will not want to do any twisting or mashing! In fact, the best method is to very lightly tap, tap the stamp on the pad and stamp the project. You need not apply pressure when inking the stamp and, in fact, doing so may result in excessive ink on the stamp and/or your block.

A few other things I like about the new pads:

No "dip" in the center of the pad - the pad will stay nice and flat and won't dip or become "wavy".
Color coded labels included with each ink pad - in four languages - for easy identification.
A new glossy label on the top of the pad that won't fade or chip off.
The ink has an increased opacity for nice solid images and dries quickly.

Open ink pads with color coded labels for easy color identification

HOT TIP: Use the extra labels! I cut the ends off of one extra label and placed them on the inside of the pad. In doing so, with two or more open ink pads sitting side by side, I can easily tell which color is which. Have you almost (or actually) put a stamp in the wrong color pad? Yikes!

Cardstock and DSP (Designer Series Paper)

When you pick up a piece of Stampin' Up! card stock, you'll notice the exclusive colors, impressive weight of paper (80 lb.) and that it's dyed all the way through so you won't get a white core when tearing. You'll also love that our textured card stock has an exclusive pattern, comes in the same great colors, and is acid and lignin free (just like our regular card stock) so it's great for scrapbooking. Whisper White Thick cardstock is 110 lb. weight

Stampin' Up! has a large variety of products that are based on four core color collections.  This foundation has taken the guesswork out of color coordinating your projects.  Each color is organized into a collection, and each color within a collection is designed to complement the other colors.  Once you've selected your color scheme, you have a full range of coordinating products from which to choose, as well as an array of accessories and embellishments designed to enhance your stamped projects.  Products such as cardstock, ink pads, markers, ribbon, brads, buttons and more, are offered in these exclusive Stampin' Up! colors.

ROW 1: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Real Red, Melon Mambo
ROW 2: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry

ROW 1: So Saffron, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder
ROW 2: Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Marina Mist

ROW 1: Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Rose Red, Perfect Plum
ROW 2: Always Artichoke, Garden Green, Island Indigo, Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant

ROW 1: Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Basic Black
ROW 2: Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Early Espresso

With each new release of the Annual Catalog, five new colors are added to the standard colour palette.  These on-trend colors are called the In Colors, which come in a full range of ink, card stock and accessories.  These colors are available for two years only.

 2016-2018 In Color Collection

Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy

2015-2017 In Color Collection

Tip Top Taupe, Delightful Dijon, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush

With Stampin' Up!'s four color collections and the In Colors, you are sure to find coordinating colors that you'll love for every project.

Because of the differences in computer and printer settings, the colors displayed might not match the actual color of the product exactly.  The color samples are approximations meant to give you a general idea of the product color.

Other companines Stampin' Up! has joined with are Sizzix for our Big Shot and exlusive dies and embossing folders. As well as, Becky Higgins Project Life, again in exclusive kits.

We also offer a wide range of punches that coordinate with our stamps.

Cardstock Cutting Formula = Quicker Card Making

UPDATED WITH PDF!

Hello there my fellow crafters!

I have come up with something to save the bug some money. I have been struggling with paper scraps for many, MANY, years now.  So while I was on a short getaway with the hubs, I came up with a plan of action to lower my scrap inventory.

This idea had been on my mind for a long time, I just didn’t know it. I knew I wanted something to help me, but the idea would not reveal itself until I was on a mini-break away from home.  I didn’t let a little ole thing like going out of town stop me from putting it down on paper.  So this is what I came up with…..ready for it?!?!

BAM!!! A Cardstock Cutting Formula!!!!!

Ok maybe not bam, but wow….as I have decided this is going to save me some money and stress in the future.  A friend of mine from Down Under (insert Rose’s blog), gently suggested to me that we need to work smarter and not harder.  And I agree, now I just need to make it so and not leave it in the air floating around.

What you have here, is the 5 most popular mat sizes, cut and ready to use…and less waste!!!! Now I realize this is super close to Connie Stewarts Flash Cards (including 2.0), which are fab!! I just wanted something a little larger, and a few more choices.

What I have done is cut up an 8 ½ x 11 piece of cardstock to create 5 mats, plus other pieces to use for matts, punching, die cutting, or stamping.  I don’t have a catchy name like Connie, sadly…but I hope to show in future posts, how to use these cuts on cards, scrapbooks, and other papercrafts.

Kettle Corn Bag Topper

Hello there, do you love Kettle Corn?!  My family loves it, so whenever I can get it fresh and handmade, I do!  I decided this time to break two HUGE bags into several bags for each of them with a little tag.  I love to make cards, but bag toppers not so much.  I wanted something simple, as they were going to rip it off quickly to get to the yumminess.

First, let me explain exactly what is Kettle Corn.  It’s a sweet-and-salty variety of popcorn that is typically mixed or seasoned with a light-colored refined sugar, salt, and oil. It was traditionally made in cast iron kettles, hence the name, but in modern times other types of pots and pans are used.  Doesn’t that just sound yummy?!  Check out my huge bag, and I got TOW of them.

I accepted my own challenge of creating a bag topper for each bag, as stated above I am not that crafty at them. I knew I wanted it to look like a popcorn box, you know the old ones not the bags they have now.  Red and White Stripes with the word POPCORN!!!  Yes, I am showing my age now, but I digress.

Below are the measurements and Stampin’ Up! supplies I used to create my quick bag topper, and please check out the video for the how to.

1 – 6 ¼ x 4 ½ Real Red Cardstock
1 – 5 ¾ x 1 ¾ Whisper White Cardstock
5 – 1 ¾ x ¾ Real Red Cardstock Strips
Scrap of Whisper White and Real Red for stamping and die cutting
Layering Ovals Framelits, the 2” Oval & 2 1/8” Oval Scalloped
Popcorn Thinlet Die – for the kernels
Ready to Pop Stamp Set
Real Red and Daffodil Yellow Stampin’ Up! Ink Pads
6” x 17” Gusseted Cellophane Bag
Silicone Craft Sheet – Stampin’ Up!
Snail Adhesive
Dimensionals
Masking Tape
