Split Panel Card & Gift Bag - Falling for You

I have completed my first official "creative" Facebook Live.  And you might be able to tell a little that I was nervous, and maybe a little disorganized.  I have been "teaching" how to's on Periscope for over a year, however they are informal and fun.

I was trying to be a little more professional on Facebook Live, but it's just not me.

I love different card folds, and this one is a great one.  Split panel cards can be made so many different ways, even with using a window sheet.  You can cut them diagonally, or with a curve.  I went with the original design, but plan on completing more in the future.

I sill had some time left, so I decided to make a bag to go with the card, sort of a wedding set if needed.

Please bear in mind when you watch the YouTube video, I transferred right from Facebook.  I will in the future, try to keep these shorter.

Now onto to the recipe.

For the Split Panel Card -
11 x 4 1/4 Sahara Sand Cardstock, Score at 5 1/2, (Once you have cut and scored, you will need to trim off 3 1/2 inches from one end of the card to the score line. Trim down the 3 1/2 to 2 to use for bottom of card)
3 1/4 x 2 Sahara Sand Cardstock
4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White Cardstock, for mat inside of card
3 x 1 3/4 Whisper White Cardstock, Stamp an image
4 x 1 3/4 times 2, DSP (Designer Series Paper)
Scrap piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock to punch out Itty Butterfly (Retiring on 5/31/17)
Sweet Sugarplum &Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Up! Ink
Tombow Glue
Fast Fuse

For the Gift Bag -

12 x 12 times 2 of the same DSP (I used Falling In Love, Retiring 05/31/17, or you could use cardstock)
3 x 6 Sahara Sand (any color will do)
16" times 2 Very Vanilla 1/4" Satin Ribbon (Retiring 05/31/17)
Tombow Glue
Please watch video on how to create, you may skip to 4:00 in the video to get past the greetings.

Thank you always for stopping by and seeing what this silly bug has created.

Using Succelents for Flowers

I have not been totally in-love with the “Oh So Succulent Photopolymer Bundle”, like everyone else.  And I have seen this stamp/die set used in many ways.  I looked at the set, for a longgggg time, and saw flowers instead of plants.  Now that I think of it, are succulent’s plants or flowers??  Someone told me they are in the same family as cactus without the painful needles!

I created this card on Periscope with my lovely followers, and let me say we always have a good time.  One even said “thanks for showing us that cards just don’t appear, sometimes it’s a process”.  I agree, I want to show others, just because I am a demonstrator of great product, I struggle, or should I say, I take my time creating art.  Oh, yeah, that sounds better.

I digress, onto the card…and how I thought this was a mistake at first.

The stamp set is two-step, which means:

Create a single, multicolored image with Two-Step Stampin'--simply layer one image over another for fast and easy stamping with amazing results. The Two-Step Stampin' logo marks these sets in the catalog.

Step 1: Stamp the base image in a light color.
Step 2: Stamp the outline image in a darker color.

I used the stamps that looked like flowers, and created a background by randomly stamping, and stamping and more stamping.  When I was finished, I was not crazy about what was in front of me, but my scoping buddies said it was fine and let’s create a card.  So, I pressed forward…. unwilling at first but with laughter.

Colors I used to stamp in were Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum

Stamped on 3 ¾ x 4 ½ Whisper White Cardstock, cut three panels.  Sponged the edges with Basic Black Stampin’ Ink.

Placed on top of Daffodil Delight mat, cut at 4 x 5 ¼, which was then placed on Basic Black card base.  This was cut out of 8 ½ x 5 1/2, scored at 4 ¼.  I always use my bone folder to press down the crease to insure the card lays flat.

Sentiment is stamped in Basic Black onto a 3 x 1 Whisper White cardstock piece.  Adhered to a 3 ¼ x 1 ¼ Basic Black mat.  I wrapped some Linen Thread around each side, three times for texture. Added dimensionals to back and placed on front.

All in all, I think this turned out better than I anticipated.  Sometimes when we are making cards, we need to sit back look at it or even come back to it.  I always say, if it’s not glued down it can be changed!!

FYI…Retirement list will be posted as soon as I am allowed!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Colour INKspiration Challenge - CI06

I have decided to join on some challenges featuring Stampin' Colors, and Stamps..as well as sketches.   I want to blog more on our product and challenges are a good way to use what I have.

For my first challenge, I created a card from Colour INKspirations CI06.  The colors used for this challenge were Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Gold Foil (or any gold).

I used one of the flowers from Touches of Texture.  I decided to ink up in Night of Navy, Pool Party and Calypso Coral Stampin' Ink, to create a background. I stamped randomly in first, second and third generation on a piece of 3 3/4 x 5 Whisper White cardstock.

I cut a piece of vellum, the same size of the Whisper White.  Added the birthday greeting from the stamp set Big on Birthdays, inked up in Versa Mark and Gold embossing powder. And attached using the Fine Tip Glue Pen, very carefully behind the greeting and corners of vellum.  This is why I love this adhesive for vellum. Added some dimensional
s to the back to place on top of the gold glimmer mat.

I used Pool Party cardstock as my card base, cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  I added a 4 x 5 1/4 mat out of Stampin' UP! Gold Glimmer Paper.  Tip..I cut out the middle to save for later projects.

BAM!  I have a birthday card ready to be mailed.  I need to remember to mail it!

Thanks for stopping by, and you can shop at my online store for all of the products used on this card.

Hugs from the bug!
