Shabby Chic Gift Bag

During the month of July on my Facebook group, we are having Christmas in July every Friday Live.  The group requested we create projects for Christmas, and I had to think quick.  I happened to have some "gifts" for future projects, so I was able to use one of them for this past weeks project.

I don't know about you, but I love shabby chic.  The pastels, the lace, and the romance just make my heart swoon.  While I am not really into my clothes with pastels, I do love the look for home and holiday decor.

I created a gift bag for a sachet, which will make great Christmas gifts.  You might even keep some on hand for "unexpected" guest/gifts from friends.

And because I am a history buff, I wanted to share a little background about sachet's.

In Cultural history (from Wikipedia):

During the Chinese Warring States period a scented sachet was an ornament worn on the body and used to absorb sweat, repel insects and ward off evils. In the Han Dynasty both boys and girls wore sachets and in the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty scented bags gradually became preferred only by women. A scented sachet became a love token in the Qing Dynasty.

In medieval Europe the sachet was known as a "plague-bag". These were generally worn around the neck, or dangled from the waist. It was believed that they provided protection against parasites and miasmata. These "sachets" contained sweet powders, aromatic calamus, benzoin, storax, galingale, cloves, and other fragrances from a herb or flower garden.

Queen Isabella of Spain used fragrant sachets consisting of dried rose and carnation petals, orris and calamus root, and other ingredients like powdered coriander seeds. In the nineteenth century a sachet filled with hops was called a "Pulvinar Humuli" and used by George III of Great Britain and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg to help induce sleep.

I find that bit of information so interesting, especially the uses.  Remember, they didnt take daily baths back then, so they would need it!

In modern times, a small cloth bag filled with potpourri may be laid among garments in a dresser.

While mine is from s store in a paper bag, you could make your own.  There are endless posts on Pinterest.

Here are the measurements, products used are at end of post.

Crumb Cake Cardstock - 8 1/2 x 11 (Bag Score @ 3", 8" on long side, @ 1", 7 1/2" on short side)
Very Vanilla - 1 x 11, and scraps for leaves and sentiments
Powder Pink - 1/8 x 8 1/4
Vellum - enough for flower about 1/2 a sheet

Introducing Monthly Craft Kits

Hello fellow crafters,

I am beyond thrilled, and eager, to reveal my new monthly craft kits!! Basically they are kits that contain Stampin' Up! products, like a share but in a kit, that I have put together. Each month the kit will contain, cardstock, DSP, accessories, punch outs, die cuts, and an instructional sheet to create 4 projects. The kits will center around a stamp set/punch/dies that I use to create the projects, and using the supplies you receive in the kit.

There will be enough to create each of the projects with plenty left over.  You may choose to create the projects or come up with your own ideas.

Give credit where it's due!!  I have been wanting to create something similar to this monthly kit for a while now.  But couldn’t really come up with an idea, on how to share the love of Stampin’ Up! with others that was at a great price point. I tried classes to go, which included items that made the class expensive for some.  Last week, I happened upon a YouTube video about a monthly kit from, Positively Papercraft, a SU! demonstrator, in the U.K.

I instantly fell in love with the idea, and decided to reach out to Ann. I wanted permission to "case" the idea, while giving her the credit. She graciously agreed to allow me to case her idea, to offer here in the states. We have even talked about collaborating in the future, which excites me as well.

OK, let me give you some more information on my new Monthly Kits!!!

My first monthly kit will be for July 2018!!  I centered my kit around the new Animal Expedition suite. The kits will not include any stamp sets, die sets, punches or ink pads. However, you are more than welcome to purchase any of the stamp sets, die sets or punches I use at my online store.

The price for this kit is $25 and that includes shipping. You can reserve your monthly kit by clicking on the reservation button below. You have until the last day of the month to reserve, and then I will send an invoice through PayPal.  You kit will be shipped during the second week of August, once I have received the order from SU! and packaged for shipment.  It will come securely packaged either in a 12x12 pizza box, or bubble mailer.  This depends on shipping costs, as I want to keep as low as possible.
